I grew up thinking my Daddy was the smartest, kindest, strongest, man on Earth.  You might say I was a Daddy’s Girl.  He worked long hours and we did not get to spend as much time together as I would have preferred. I have such good memories of sharing breakfast with him.  He would eat and read his paper while chatting with and teasing me.  My Daddy is a Cheerios™ man. He doesn’t just eat a regular bowl of cereal he starts his day with a generous helping out of his favorite bowl.   He is now a very active 73 years old and still eats his Cheerios™ every morning while reading the paper. Now I don’t sit across the table from him but I often call him when I know he is eating his breakfast just to chat and feel that bond again.

When I heard about the Buy  a Box, Give a Free Box campaign I knew I wanted to participate! I immediately headed to Walmart to find one of the specially marked boxes so that I could share a box of Cheerios™ with my Daddy again.

  This is such a fun and easy thing to do! Just pick up a box of your favorite Cheerios™, then  visit the  Buy One, Give One website to enter the code found on your cereal box as well as the email address of the person you are gifting.  They will receive an e-card in their inbox with instructions to receive their coupon to redeem for their free box at Walmart

At my house the baby and I snack on Cheerios™ and I also make delicious no bake breakfast bars that my boys enjoy. While I am sharing a box with my Daddy I would love to share my recipe with you.

Cheerios Box

No Bake Breakfast Bar

1 cup honey
1 cup smooth peanut butter
1 cup cashew pieces
1 cup dried cranberries
3 cups Cheerios™

Combine honey and peanut butter in saucepan and cook on medium heat until melted together.

Pour Cheerios™ in a large bowl and add the honey/peanut butter mixture and combine. Stir in cashews and dried cranberries.

  Spread in a 9×13 lightly buttered pan.

Refrigerate for one hour and cut into bars.

I love making these and adding a little extra protein by adding in the cashews! You can use raisins, peanuts, marshmallows or whatever your family prefers.

  • What a great memory! My dad is a Cheerios man as well (I like the Honey Nut) and he lives over 2 hours away so we don’t see each other as often as I would like. I’ll have to pick up a box for myself and then surprise him with his own box! (client)
