This Southern Bread Pudding is one of my absolute favorite desserts! It is simple to make and sometimes doubles as breakfast at my house. It warms up well or can be eaten cold.
You will Need:
1 loaf of French Bread (day old is best)
3 Eggs
2 Cup Sugar
1 1/2 tsp Vanilla
3 cups Milk
2 tsp ground Cinnamon
3 Tablespoons melted Butter
Beat Eggs, add sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, melted butter and milk. Slice and Cube your bread and add to egg mixture. Stir to moisten bread. Pour into 9×13 pan. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
Sometimes I add Bourbon Sauce to my bread pudding. Makes it even better. This is NOT for kids.
You will Need:
1/2 Cup Butter
1 Cup Sugar
1 Egg, beaten lightly
2 tablespoons Bourbon (not just Whiskey it needs to be Bourbon)
Melt butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Add sugar and egg and whisk to blend well. Continue cooking and stirring constantly until it thickens. Remove from heat and slowly whisk in bourbon (to taste). Cool. Whisk and reheat to serve. Bourbon Sauce is creamy and smooth and adds an extra bit of flavor and warmth to Bread Pudding.

I love bread pudding but have never tried to make my own. I didn’t realize how simple it looks to make! I’m definitely going to give this a try, thanks for the recipe!
This looks delicious! I have heard how great bread pudding is but I have never actually tried it!
This Looks So Yummy I Can’t Wait To Make Thank You!
I have never made bread pudding, that looks easy and yummy!
I’m from New Orleans and we do get some serious about our bread pudding!! This looks like a great recipe for a beginner, but try adding some coarsely chopped, roasted pecans, and some raisins. Now you’re talking Louisiana!! Yummy!
I made this for my me and husband, it was absolutely delicious
I am so happy to hear you enjoyed it! It’s one of my absolute favorites. 🙂
I made your bread pudding recipe today with Bourbon sauce. It is so incredibly yummy! I wouldn’t change a thing about it. I’m so glad I settled on your recipe for my first attempt at bread pudding. There is absolutely no need to try another.
Thank you,
Marshall
Hi Robyn, I’m a little confused about the bourbon sauce directions. Do you pour this on top after it bakes or before you bake it? I can’t wait to try this for Father’s Day. Thank you!
Yes, you add the bourbon sauce before eating.
