I don’t think I ever got to tell you about the loss of our 7 year old Boston Terrier, Dr. Gonzo a couple of years ago. This pup was the craziest and most loving to a fault dog ever. He had some territorial issues with people he didn’t know, but otherwise, fiercely loving of his family. We noticed one evening that his gums were extremely pale. It was so shocking that my husband rushed him to our local 24 hour Emergency Vet. Bloodwork showed that his red and white blood cells were extremely low. Not quite blood transfusion levels, but not too far off. They weren’t sure what the cause was, as nothing seemed to be out of sorts otherwise. We were given some prescriptions and an iron supplement. His condition did not improve. He wasn’t making new blood cells very well either. At a followup visit, they had a hard time even drawing blood. We were pretty sure this was some sort of bone marrow issue, but without the massive amount of funds required to diagnose and possibly treat, we did the best we could. He eventually passed from heart failure. His body just didn’t have enough blood to keep his heart going anymore. He is dearly missed. I often wonder if we had been able to afford the tests and possible treatments if it would have saved him.
About a year after we lost Gonzo, we adopted a scruffy mutt from the city pound, Willy. We think we totally lucked out, because he is an amazing dog. Loves us, the kiddo, and everyone else he comes in contact with. He is keeping our 12 year old dog young as well. They play and love on each other all the time. I want to make sure that in case anything happens with Willy or Cooper, we can easily afford the tests and treatments needed! I have been considering pet insurance, but had no idea where to start, how much it might cost, and if it would actually help pay for vet bills. The bills we had with Gonzo’s blood work, emergency vet visits, etc were outrageous. I wish I had learned more about pet insurance earlier.

My dog, Sadie is almost 13. She’s a beagle that I got as a puppy from someone in our family. She’s a naughty dog always scavenging for a nibble but we love her to pieces.
We love our boxers, Abby & Raque. Both of them are rescues. Abby was an owner surrender but Raque was abused. They both have their forever homes now!
I have four.. Brandy, 16 y/o shepherd mix… Zeek, 12 y/o rottie mix,… Fidelis 6 y/o Rottie and Bailey, a 4 y/o pit bull. Brandy loves to give kisses, Zeek is super afraid of loud noises and the alarm system… silly since he’s huge. Fidelis is always chatting up a storm, especially if you aren’t paying attention to her, and Bailey is a toy addict. She likes to destroy anything with stuffing and a squeaker but moms a sucker and keeps buying them
We have 2 dogs. Daphne is 5 and is a kleptomaniac. Brutus is 2 and is a snuggle boy who barks at EVERY noise!
I have two greyhounds and two little terrier mutts and they are EVERYTHING! My heart (and hands) are so full with these four boys!!! They really are my kids!!
I have 3 German Shepherds. Hercules is a rescue and he is 4 I’ve had him since he was a pup.Bella is 3 and Medo is 2. Bella is my soulmate she is very attached and loves to snuggle. Medo is 120 lbs and long hair Shepherd he looks like a king when he walks by. Loves to play fetch. They are great with my kids and we see them as part of family not as pets.
