We get portions of a cow periodically from an Amish farm in Indiana. You wouldn’t believe the difference in quality! We ran out of ground beef last year and had to buy some from the grocery. It was disappointing how PALE it looks! We also started including a half of a pig in our order. The sausage we get is so amazing and flavorful! I don’t think we will ever go back to buying it in the store.
This breakfast bread is so yummy but might be a little hard to pull apart, so you could just slice it. We also used some Cholula hot sauce to liven it up a bit!
You will need:
3 cans of regular biscuits (generic are perfectly fine)
8 eggs
splash of milk
1 tsp ground mustard
1lb of breakfast sausage
1 4oz pkg of shredded cheese (your choice, cheddar or mexican is best!)
Brown the sausage in a skillet and drain well. Beat the eggs into a bowl and add the splash of milk, ground mustard, and salt and pepper to taste. Slice the biscuits into quarters. In batches, dip the biscuits into the egg mixture and place in a bundt pan.

You will want to layer in biscuits, sausage, cheese, and pour a little bit of the egg in. I think we did about 3 layers of biscuits.
Pour any leftover egg mixture on top.

Bake at 350 for about 35-40 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
Serve immediately! Goes great with Cholula, which is more flavorful than regular hot sauce. Or you could dip in ranch!

Yum this looks delicious! I bet this would be perfect to make ahead and then serve in a hurry on school mornings.
I’m pinning this! I’ve been looking for some new breakfast recipe, and I like one just like this. WIll have to try it your way next time!
Three of my favorite things in one dish?!? Perfect!! I will be adding this to my weekend recipes.
That’s nifty, I wouldn’t mind trying it.
Yum! I love breakfast casserole! Thanks for sharing! 🙂
I soooo have to try this. Maybe this week-end for breakfast.
That looks fantastic! I’m going to make that for my Sunday School class next month! Thank you!
Mmm, that looks completely yummy! Thanks for sharing!
That is mouthwatering!!! I absolutely need to try that this week!
I need to make more fun breakfast recipes for my family. They would love this!
Oh my that looks delish. My extended family would love this for the next brunch get together.
Oh that looks delicious! That would be perfect for Christmas morning too! (yes – I am already thinking of Christmas lol)
I’ve never had breakfast bread. That looks pretty yummy.
What a great idea to make breakfast bread. This would be a new idea in my house.
That just looks incredible. This would be fantastic to serve to weekend guests.
Oh that looks so good! We need to have people over for the weekend so I have an excuse to make that!
That looks good and easy to make! Thanks for sharing!
Can an egg substitute be used in this recipe?
If you are using something like Egg Beaters, yes, it can!
4 cans of biscuits? 10 per can? 40 biscuits seems like a lot? Looking forward to trying this out!
It really depends on the biscuits. Most “monkey bread” style recipes like this require the full 4 cans. The generic biscuits are quite small, but if you think it might be too much, you could do 3 cans, then judge from there!
This recipe looks delicious and definitely something I need to try with my family.
Yummy, that looks really good.
Looks delicious! Can this be made the night before?

this is definitely something i would make, my kids would love it thanks for sharing
Tried this recipe this morning and it is delicious! I used honey butter biscuits but could only find the mini cans. I came up. Little short but I made it work.
Wow! Could this be frozen (if wrapped well) and re-warmed before slicing or devouring? Could it also be made the nite before, refrigerated then baked the next morning (ummm, like Christmas morning)??? We will definately be enjoying this during this coming winter when guests are over! Thanks and plz keep these wonderful ideas coming our way!
1 cam less of biscuit, more meat and cheese. But it passed.
Thank you for actually making it before posting. All those “I’m going to make this” posts aren’t helpful.
Amen!
Going to wrap cut up “string Cheese” in the biscuits and a country gravy would be a nice touch too. Oh sounds like I’m making Biscuits and Gravy. Making this a.m. can’t wait.
That sounds great!
I also serve with country gravy. Also substitute pork roll and serve hollandaise sauce!
Thanks for sharing this! I need something for my high-schoolers in the mornings! Can I just mix all of this up in a big casserole dish though? Thanks!!
You could!
Taste great and super simple. Made sausage gravy and hollandaise for different choices. Would be great holiday breakfast.
looks delicious but my dumb question is what is breakfast sausage that you cook like that? help? i’m not that savvy i go shopping only when i have to..
It’s ground sausage that you buy in a roll, like Bob Evans, Old Folks, etc. If you are in the United States, it’s very common. Not sure if it is called something else elsewhere though!
thank you so much Michelle
I have 3 cans of 5 big biscuits. Plan to use a bundt pan. That should be plenty
I make this but I actually leave out the biscuits an sausage add spinach an onions diced smiked ham !! It’s so yummy an I load it with spinach 🙂 I’m trying to watch calories so I try an stay away from breads
That sounds really good!
Can I use crescent rolls instead instead of biscuits?
I’ve never tried that, so I’m not sure how it would change the texture, but it sounds intriguing! let me know if you try it!
Can this prepared the night before, fridge it and bake in the morning?
I’m honestly not sure. I think it would definitely change the texture of the biscuits.
Yes making ahead will work. I have a diff recipe that’s a make ahead and it works fine. I wish I cld save this recipe to my keepers but I’m not finding option
I’m making this recipe this morning. But I have to ask if the 3 cans of biscuits is a misprint?
I have a standard/large bundt pan and I MIGHT have been able to squeeze in 2 cans, though it would have been crowded, and not sure if this puffs up and could possibly spill over, so I stayed with one large can, which with everything else, came about 1/2 – 1 inch from the top. It smells amazing as it cooks, I have to say!
It’s out of the oven, and amazing! Regarding the quantity of biscuits, it did in fact puff up quite a bit, and even with just one tube of biscuits, I should have put it on a cooking sheet as it did spill over just a tiny bit.
I think it depends on the biscuits you use. I used cheap generic store brands and they didnt puff up much. Glad you liked it regardless!
Or with some gravy!!
tried this after church today-just a half-1 lg can biscuits, 4 eggs, 1/2 lb sausage, but 4 oz cheese-hubby really liked it, and it was pretty good-but think I’d rather have mine separate-served with milk gravy made from the sausage drippings
I had a smaller crowd, so cut the recipe down to 1/3 the original size. I made in a loaf pan, and sliced the warm bread and poured country gravy over it. I would put even more sausage and cheese next time. It was a nice version of biscuits and gravy
Do you need to grease the bundt pan first?
Yes you should.
I am making this for a bridal shower brunch. I tested it out on my friends. It taste great; however, it was dry in the middle. I only soaked my biscuit in the egg mixture and didn’t pour at each layer. What can I do differently? Thank you for sharing
I was looking for something different to make for breakfast in the morning and this is a winner! Thank you! I can not wait to try it!
