Do you have a Minecraft fan in your home? I bet most of you do!! Minecraft is a hugely popular building game right now. It’s been around a while. Heck, I remember beta testing it a long time ago! My 6 year old is a huge fan, he even had a Minecraft themed birthday this year!
My husband and I are old school gamers. Before having our son, a lot of our free time was spent playing video games together. It was destined to be that our son would inherit our hobby. When we heard about Telltale making a game centered around the Minecraft universe, I knew my son would want it. I was already a huge fan of Telltale, with their episodic, decision-based story games. To be honest, I really like Minecraft, myself, as well!
Minecraft: Story Mode follows Jesse, an adventurer as he (or she!) travels the Overworld with his friends. Jesse finds himself caught in a perilous adventure and needs his friends to help him. There are bits with cinematic story, timed button presses, and conversation decisions that shape your story!
I must mention, however, that the conversation pieces that you must choose as Jesse’s responses are timed and need to be read quickly if you want to choose carefully. I truly wish, since Minecraft appeals to younger kids that may not be able or strong enough readers yet, that Telltale would add an option to turn off the timer on responses so parents can have the time to read the choices and let them make their own decisions. That said, every choice WILL advance the story as far as I can tell. So if the kiddo gets too excited and just mashes a quick response, the game is not over.
The game is fun, hilarious at times, and my 6 year old said he loves it. That is a win in my book!
This will be a great gift for the Minecraft fans out there! Visit Telltale Games at www.telltalegames.com
